If you are an MPA athlete who has competed at an international event on the IPF Calendar, please e-mail manitobapowerlifting@gmail.com or treasurermanpow@gmail.com within 45 days of your event with your full name, the event you competed in, and the date of your competition. You will then be asked to provide a receipt from CANPL for the fees you paid. If you are competing at multiple events during the year, please send an email for each event that you participated in.

Once the MPA fiscal year is complete (July to June), the fund will be distributed evenly between the qualified applicants, although the reimbursement will be capped at what the athlete paid for CANPL fees.

Once each lifter has been reimbursed for their 1st meet of the year, the remaining fund will be split evenly amongst the lifters who competed at a second meet, and then a 3rd meet and so on, until either each lifter has been reimbursed, or the fund is depleted. Any leftover fund will be carried over to the next year’s fund.

In the case where MPA is certain that no other lifters will be competing at international events for the rest of the fiscal year, MPA may distribute the funds early.

  1. MPA will create a fund based on the 2024-2025 membership fees for the 2025-2026 fiscal year (e.g. July 2025 – June 2026). This would be distributed in ~July 2026, after the IPF Open Classic World Championship concludes in June (the last international event during the MPA fiscal year). But if no lifters qualify for international events after CANPL Nationals in early March, for example, then the fund may be distributed in March/April, after Nationals.

  1. For the sake of the following examples, pretend the fund is $1000.

  1. If 5 athletes compete at international events, and each of their CANPL fees are $300, then the fund will be split 5 ways, and each lifter will get $200.

    1. If one of those athletes did a second international meet, then they would not be reimbursed for that meet, as there were no leftover funds after the first round.

  1. If 3 athletes compete and their fees are each $300, then each athlete would receive $300 to fully reimburse their fees. This leaves $100 leftover.

    1. If 2 of those lifters had done a second international meet that year, then they would each receive $50. If it was only 1 lifter, they would get the entire $100

    2. If no lifters had done a second meet, then the  $100 would be carried over to the next year’s fund.
